Bookshelves, The GA Way
When styling a bookshelf, one of the first things you need to consider is the size of the shelves. How wide are they? How much space do you have between each shelf?
Once thats done, you should assess what types of decorative items you already have that you can reuse! Look in your garage for family heirlooms, other rooms in the house, or your garden shed!
We like to mix old and new pieces to create visual interest through color, texture, shape, and size. Incorporating found objects is a great way to make your space feel collected and lived in.
If you don’t have any old stuff hanging around your house, take a trip to the thrift store, check out an antique shop, or scour your local neighborhood for estate sales.
There’s also plenty of vintage online shops and marketplaces like Etsy, Chairish, and 1st Dibs if you’re looking for something in particular!
Don’t forget about greenery! If your space has enough natural lighting, consider placing some houseplants on the shelf. Not only do they add a natural element to the space, but plants can also improve your air quality!
Our favorite bookshelf style moments are those that feel personal and unique. From items gifted by friends, things you’ve collected on your travels, or family photos in a vintage frame, It’s all about creating spaces with the objects that tell a story and feel special to you!
